Paying Your Rent
Your rent helps to pay for the services we provide for you and other tenants. It is therefore important that everyone pays on time. Rent is charged on a weekly basis and is due on the Monday. There are normally 48 rent paying weeks each year - with two rent free weeks during December, one at the end of March and one at the beginning of April. If you are in arrears then you should continue to pay during these rent free weeks in order to catch up.
The following information will help you decide how best to pay your rent. However please contact us if
- You have any questions or want to discuss your account
- You have difficulty paying your rent
- You need advice on arrears or
- You need advice on claiming Housing Benefit
You can ring us on 01933 234450 or visit our customer service centre.
How can I find out how much I owe?
We will send you a rent statement four times a year. If you would like a copy of your rent statement then please contact your Housing Officer.
How can I pay my rent/service charge?
All rents (and service charges if applicable) are due weekly in advance. If you wish to pay monthly you need to pay monthly in advance. You can pay your rent or service charge by the following methods:
By Direct Debit
If you have a bank or building society account you can pay by Direct Debit every month. Paying by Direct Debit is becoming an increasingly popular method of paying rent. It is hassle-free and allows your rent to be paid at the same time every month to help you to budget properly for your rent and all your other bills.
You need to complete a Direct Debit form and return it to us. You can request a form by calling 01933 234450 or visiting our customer service centre.
Once a completed Direct Debit form has been returned and set up, a schedule of payments will be sent to you to confirm the dates the payments will leave your account. You need to keep paying your rent until the Direct Debit is set up by Wellingborough Homes.

Housing Benefit
You may be able to pay some or all of your rent by claiming housing benefit from your local council. To qualify, you will usually be on a low income and may be claiming benefits such as job seekers allowance, state pension or working family tax credit. The amount of benefit you get paid depends on your income and savings. If you qualify, the Council will pay your housing benefit direct to us. For details on how to claim, visit the section of this web site on housing benefit.
