Older Residents Get A Wii Bit Fit

Tenants, from left, Sandy Linder, Kitty Burnham and Sylvia Law, enjoy a game of bowling on the Wii they have bought to keep them activeFive older residents at Wellingborough Homes’ sheltered housing scheme Hearnden Court have bought a Wii console to keep active whilst having fun.

Sandy Linder, has lived at Hearnden Court for more than two years and said they decided to get a Wii as a different way to exercise.

“It’s a great way to exercise even if you are not that physically able, you can still sit in the chair and play on it,” she said.

“We are playing on it a lot. My favourite game is golf because I used to play regularly but everyone else really likes the bowling and tennis.”

Scheme Co-ordinator for Hearnden Court John Dodson said: “It’s great that the tenants are taking such a fun approach to staying active. It goes to show that age is no barrier to having fun or keeping fit.”
